Description

The Elms is a farmhouse, likely built in the mid to late 17th century, with a later 18th-century facade and rear extensions added subsequently. The main structure is built of roughly squared and dressed painted limestone, featuring an ashlar facade, and has a red tile roof. Original features include an early brick stack, along with two later engineering brick stacks added in the 19th century. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a three-windowed front elevation with a parapet. There are two-story canted bay windows with four-pane sashes. The central bay features a three-light casement with glazing bars and a keystone. The ground floor casement extends downwards below the sill. A six-panelled door, with the upper four panels glazed, is located on the left side and is flanked by fluted pilasters and a frieze topped with a triangular pediment. A projecting stack is found on the left gable end, containing two diagonally set shafts. Two axial stacks are also present. The right gable end has flat coping. The interior of the building is not accessible.
