Description

Rose Cottage is a small cottage from the 18th century, constructed of painted brick with a limestone rubble stack and a thatched roof featuring decorative ridge thatching. The building has a rectangular plan and is 1½ storeys high. The entrance front includes a two-light segmental-headed casement window with leaded panes and a segmental-headed plank door with a single glazed pane to the right. There is also a two-light eyebrow dormer located in the upper left. A projecting stack is found at the left gable end. The 20th-century lean-to extensions are not of special interest. The thatched roofing, once common on minor buildings in this area, is now a rare survival. The interior has not been inspected.
