Description
The stables and coach house at The Old Rectory date from the mid-18th century. They are constructed from narrow coursed, squared stone with ashlar dressings and feature a stone slate roof. The building consists of two rooms, one of which is lofted. On the right side, there is a double boarded door with an elliptical head, stone voussoirs, and a slightly projecting keystone. To the left, there is a boarded stable door with a chamfered arris and a stone lintel. Above this door is an oval window, and the building has parapet gables. The left side has a semi-circular window in the center of the ground floor and a circular window above, both with ashlar dressings. Inside, the coach house has stone paving, tie-beam and collar trusses, two pairs of butt purlins, and a plank ridge. The stable features stone-sett paving, plastered walls, and three recesses on the gable wall with semi-circular heads, along with a loft above. This structure forms a group with the Old Rectory.
