Description
There are two chest tombs located in the churchyard of the Church of the Holy Trinity, immediately south of the chancel.
The first tomb, closest to the vestry, is dedicated to Elizabeth Saine. It is made of limestone and has a square plan, featuring sunken inscription panels on all four sides. The capping is badly eroded and has a moulded margin. Part of the original upper capping stone remains, but some has been replaced with an early 18th-century headstone.
The second tomb is approximately 0.5 meters to the east of the first. This tomb dates from the late 18th century and has a fielded inscription panel with a partially legible inscription on the south side. The east end features a fielded panel with an inscription to Elizabeth, wife of John Saine, who died in 1773.
