Description
The monument to Thomas Fulljames is located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary, approximately 3 metres west of the William Lane monument. This recumbent monument commemorates Thomas Fulljames, who died in 1874. It is made of limestone and features a rectangular plinth with a hipped upper surface that is flattened at the top. The north side has an inscription, and there is pointed scalloped decoration that continues around all four sides. Above the plinth is a recumbent hipped tombstone with a cross along the ridge and inscriptions on all four sides, accompanied by incised decoration on either side of the cross. Thomas Fulljames, the architect, was known for his numerous church restorations in Gloucestershire, including the restoration of the Church of St. Mary and the design of the north aisle of Hasfield Church. He also inherited Hasfield Court from his uncle, who shared his name.
