Description

The monument to William Lane is located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary, approximately 9 metres south-west of the tower. This chest tomb commemorates William Lane, who died in 1844, and his wife Ann, who died in 1825. It is made of sandstone and features a rectangular plinth with a moulded top. On either side of the tomb, there are raised oval inscription plaques adorned with palm leaf fronds. At the west end, there is an urn situated under a weeping lopped tree, while at the east end, there is a draped urn. The tomb is capped with a squared-off margin.
