Description
The dovecote, located approximately 75 meters southeast of Manor Farm, is a Grade II* listed structure dated and initialled 'I.R. 1637' and 'I.I.R. 1637', referring to John and Isabel Roberts, on two stone plaques, one on the west-facing gable and the other on the south. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with dressed stone quoins, featuring a square cross-gabled plan. The dovecote has two storeys and a moulded plinth. It includes two-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned casements with continuous hoodmoulds near the apex of each gable, and a deep flat-chamfered string.
On the north side, facing Manor Farm, there is a small, early studded plank door with strap hinges, set within a flat-chamfered 'Tudor'-arched surround that has imposts and carved spandrels. The gables are topped with saddleback coping and moulded kneelers, each adorned with pointed finials. Although finials were once present at the apex of each gable, only remnants of one remain as of the last survey in March 1986. The dovecote also features a central square access lantern with an ogee-curved leaded roof. The interior is not accessible.
