Description
The Thomas Pensam monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary, approximately 6 metres south of the chancel. It commemorates Thomas Pensam, who died in 1814, and Mary Pensam, who died in 1823, along with other members of the Pensam family, including their son Thomas, who died in 1792 in the Island of St. John, West Indies. The monument is made of sandstone and features a moulded plinth that was formerly surrounded by an iron railing. It has raised inscription panels on both sides and at the ends, with the inscriptions flanked by fluted columns. The capping stone has a moulded margin.
