Description

The Wood Smith tomb, located approximately 8 meters southeast of the southeast corner of the chancel of the Church of St Peter, is a late 18th-century pedestal tomb made of limestone. It features half-cylinder ends and a flat top with a moulded edge. The tomb has a fluted frieze and sunk inscription panels with pointed upper edges, along with a moulded base on a plinth. It commemorates William Wood-Smith, who died in the 18th century, and also includes an inscription from 1782 dedicated to the wife of Samuel Baylis.
