Description
No. 4 Mill Street is a small house located in Tewkesbury, which likely dates back to the 15th or early 16th century but was refronted in the early 19th century. The building features irregular English bond brickwork, timber-framing, and a tiled roof with a brick stack. It has a modest appearance with low eaves and a steep-pitched roof, consisting of two storeys and an attic with a single window. The upper floor has a 20th-century casement window above a 16-pane sash window, and to the left, there is a low 20th-century part-glazed door, both set beneath a half-brick segmental head. The house has an eaves board and a brick stack on the right side, along with a deep back wing. The left gable includes two small attic lights in the timber-framing. Inside, the property retains a modified roof structure with remnants of wind-bracing and a very heavy transverse beam at the party wall on the fire side. The unassuming exterior hides the remnants of a much earlier building.
