Description
There are two monuments located in the churchyard, about 1 meter south of the tower of the Church of St. Giles. These monuments date from the early 19th century and are made of stone. One is a pedestal tomb for Thomas White, who died in 1814, and his wife, who died in 1787. The pedestal features a square dome, a step leading to the lid, a moulded edge, and a raised margin on the sides. It has a moulded top on the plinth and a wide stone base at ground level, with indented corners throughout. This design is similar to the Griffiths monument in the churchyard. The second monument is a chest tomb for E. Middleton, who died in 1810. It has a flat lid with a moulded edge, raised panels on the sides also with a moulded edge, wide pilasters at the ends, an egg and dart design on the capital, and a sunk panel on the stem, along with a moulded base. There are later inscriptions on this tomb.
