Description

Bradley Cottages is a semi-detached house built in the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The structure features Flemish bond brickwork on a blue lias stone plinth, along with square-panelled timber framing that has unpainted brick infill, which has been partly refaced in brick. The roof is covered with red tiles, and there is a brick stack.

The house has a rectangular plan and consists of a 2½ storey early 18th-century square brick block on the right. The ground floor is illuminated by a wood-mullioned cross window, while the first floor has a 2-light casement window, both of which have gauged brick heads. There is also a 2-light garret light with a soldier arched head and bands between the floors. A former doorway in the right-hand wall has been blocked, with a window inserted into the blocking. At the right-hand corner, there is a 19th-century plank door within a segmental-headed surround, and above it, the square-panelled timber framing is lit by a 3-light window, one of which retains its original leaded panes.

To the left is a 1½ storey early to mid-18th-century extension, which has been refaced in brick on the wall facing the road. This extension features a small 20th-century casement window on the right and sawtooth decoration at the eaves. The ground floor of the gable end has 20th-century plate glass casements that respect the framing, and there is a 2-light casement above for the garret. At the rear gable end of the right brick block, there is a large square brick stack, and a lateral stack is located at the front of the early to mid-18th-century extension on the left. The interior has not been inspected.
