Description

Guberhill is a detached house that dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, with later additions from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. The main structure features square panelled timber framing with brick infill, some of which is rendered. There is an 18th to early 19th century extension built in two phases, made of brick and sandstone, and a 19th century extension constructed from painted brick. The house has a red tile roof and a rectangular plan for the timber-framed main body, with an 18th to 19th century extension on the west gable end. A single-storey 19th century extension is positioned at right angles to the north of the timber-framed range.

The timber-framed section is 1½ storeys high and has two 2-light dormers on the north side. The 18th to early 19th century extension is two storeys and has two windows, with a two-windowed 18th century extension to the right that features one 3-light and one 4-light casement with a transom in the left-hand bay, and two 12-pane sash windows in the right-hand bay. A central doorway has been blocked by another 12-pane sash window. All sash windows have brick surrounds, indicating they were added later. The south wall has two large projecting stacks, one of which lacks a shaft. The timber-framed part has 20th century casements that respect the timber framing, and there is a part-glazed 20th century door leading to the 18th century extension, along with one 2-light and one 3-light casement, and one 12-pane and one 2-pane sash window.

Inside, there is a 17th century staircase with splat balusters of two different designs, although it is not in its original position. The interior also features a large open fireplace with a bressumer beam. The farmhouse is situated on a moated site.
