Description

Ripple Hall is a country house built between 1780 and 1790, featuring a main south range and an earlier, refaced west rear wing. The main range is constructed of red brick and stands two stories high, topped with a parapet and low-pitched slate roofs. It has five windows, with full-height curved bows on both the east and west end walls. Notable architectural details include a stone platband, a small modillion cornice, and parapet coping. The windows have gauged brick heads and are fitted with glazing bar sash windows.

The entrance boasts a fine wide central doorway with a gauged brick round arch and a large metal traceried fanlight. It features double doors flanked by sidelights and panelled pilasters adorned with Adam capitals. In front of the door is a raised stone terrace with steps on either side, enclosed by cast iron railings. An early 19th-century flat-headed wrought-iron porch adds to the entrance's elegance.

The stylistic elements of Ripple Hall show similarities to Ham Court, built in 1772, and several houses in Upton-upon-Severn, including The Rectory from 1787 and Hiltons from around 1790. The lower rear west range is rendered and also two stories high, with a parapet and slate roof, and features a north end stack. It has a four-window range of glazing bar sashes and a stone doorcase with an open scrolled pediment and an armorial cartouche, reflecting late 17th or early 18th-century design.
