Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with 19th-century alterations and modifications made in the mid-20th century. It features coursed, squared stone and a stone slate roof, designed in a 'U' plan with wings that are one room deep and two and a half storeys high. The front has a plinth and a plain string course at the first floor, with mullioned windows that have leaded lights and no hoodmoulds.
The elevation facing the road includes a left gable with a lean-to against the side of the wing, while the end of the left wing is plain with a parapet gable and a chimney set back. The right return has two 2-light windows on each floor. At the rear, there is a recess with a 2-light window, a 20th-century boarded door under a flat stone lintel, and two 2-light windows above, along with two gabled dormers featuring 2-light casements.
On the left return of the right wing, there is a chimney projection with a 2-light window on either side at the first floor, and a chimney rising from the ridge of the parapet gable. The end of the right wing has a 3-light window on the ground and first floors, with the lower window being slightly wider, and a 2-light window in the attic, topped with a parapet gable. The right wing appears to be a later addition to the original 'L' plan house.
