Description

A group of four memorials located in St Mary's Churchyard, dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. These memorials are made of limestone and are situated north-west of the church's west door, ranging from 30 feet to 65 feet away.

The first memorial is a chest tomb from the 18th century with bolstered ends, though the inscriptions are not legible and it is about 45 feet from the door. The second is an upright chest tomb from the late 18th century or early 19th century, featuring a flat pitch and quarter columns at the corners. Its inscriptions are also not legible and it is located immediately east of the first, approximately 30 feet from the door.

The third memorial is a rhomboidal chest tomb with barrel ends, a cornice, and a cavetto base. The name "Pope" is decipherable along with part of a date from 185, and it is in poor condition at the time of the survey. This tomb is about 30 feet from the door and adjacent to the approach path.

The fourth memorial is an upright chest tomb with quarter balusters, although its base is now below grass level and the inscriptions are not legible. It is located at the north end of the group, approximately 65 feet from the door.
