Description

The Church Institute is a late 18th-century building constructed from ashlar with a pitched tile roof and ashlar chimneys. It has two storeys and attics, featuring three ranges of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, along with two attic dormers. On the ground floor, there are two mid-19th century mullioned windows. The building also has a verandah supported by iron columns, which are Tuscan in style and feature depressed arches with keys and circles in the spandrels. The flat roof of the verandah has the ends of the joists projecting. This building is part of a group of listed buildings in The Market, which includes Nos 53 to 55 and The Bedford Arms on High Street.
