Description
The two Hawkins monuments are located about 11 meters southwest of the east end of the chancel in the churchyard of the Church of St. Andrew. These are two chest tombs, with Judith Hawkins, who died in 1763, to the north, and Henry Hawkins, who died in 1777, to the south. Both monuments are made of limestone and feature a flat top, a moulded plinth, and capping. They are set together on a large base that was formerly railed. The monument for Judith has panelled pilaster corners and dividers on the side panels, with plain fielded side panels and a relief cartouche at the ends. The monument for Henry features lyre ends with flat oval end panels, a raised moulded rectangular panel with similar flanking strips on the north side, and plain fielded south side panels arranged in the same way.
