Description
The Gables is a late 17th-century (dated 1676, although it appears later) building of rubble construction with a Cotswold stone roof. It has two gables, with small round windows, and a date plaque originally on the right-hand gable (now removed from the left). The building is two and a half storeys in height, with two attic gables, and has a three-window front plus a single window on the left. The windows are casements with chamfered surrounds and mullions. The ground floor has three-light windows, while the first floor windows are two-light, and the windows on the right-hand side of the ground and first floors are united by a continuous drip. A central doorway, positioned to the right of the right-hand section, is paired with a window. Originally two cottages, two staircases remain, one of which has a newel post. The interior features an ovolo-moulded surround to a door on the left of the entrance and two beams with similar moulding on the ground floor.
