Description
The Deverells is a building located on Chestnut Hill, dating from the early 18th century. It features ashlar stone construction with pilaster strips on the sides, breaks in the cornice, and a band above the ground floor, along with a chamfered plinth. The roof is made of Cotswold stone and has three chimneys with moulded cornices. The building is two storeys tall and includes two gabled dormers topped with ball finials. There are four windows, which are glazing bar sashes with architraves and keystones. A moulded coved stone eaves cornice runs along the top. The entrance consists of a six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, and is topped by a plain hood supported on brackets. The house has been enlarged by one bay at each end using rubble, and the cornice has been extended. At the rear, there is a tall stair window. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase from around 1800 and a partly panelled hall.
