Description
Burden Court Farmhouse and the gate piers located 10 yards to the southwest are a mid to late 17th-century farmhouse. The building is rendered and features a Cotswold stone slate roof with coped raised verges. It has two storeys and attics, characterized by steep stone gables topped with ball finials. The main structure consists of three bays, with single storey and attic wings on either side. The windows are 2- and 3-light casements with hollow chamfered mullions and surrounds, all set beneath drip moulds, while the gables contain single light casements. A gabled projecting porch features a door case with a moulded surround and a four-centred arch lintel, leading to a plank door. The gate piers are made of ashlar stone, panelled with a moulded cornice and topped with ball finials, and they are accompanied by cast-iron gates. This farmhouse is a well-preserved example of the gabled farmhouse style typical of South Gloucestershire.
