Description

Birt and four unidentified monuments are located about 20 meters north of the end of the nave in the churchyard of the Church of St. Peter. The chest tomb belongs to Samuel Birt and is dated 1712/13. It is made of limestone and features a flat top, a moulded plinth and capping, and lyre ends. The tomb is richly carved, displaying a cartouche on the south side, a swag on the north with flanking reliefs, carved returns on the ends, a cartouche on the west, and skulls in a shell on the east.

To the immediate south is a headstone dated 1715, which includes swags and an hourglass, along with a plain slab and footstone. There are three headstones to the east; two are large and feature two cherubs above an oval panel on the left, with one cherub head on the right, and the edges shaped like wings, holding a clasped book with a swag.
