Description

The Longe and two Symes monuments are three chest tombs located about 3 meters south of the end of the nave in the churchyard of the Church of St. Peter. The tomb to the north belongs to the daughter of Roger Longe, who died in 1639. To the south are the tombs of Thomas Symes, who died in 1800, and Nathaniel Symes, who died in 1741. These monuments are made of limestone. The Longe tomb features a plain flat chamfered capping, a partly visible plinth, and slab sides and ends, with an inscription incised in capitals on the south side between horizontal lines. The two Symes tombs have flat tops, moulded plinths and cappings, and flattened lyre ends, with rectangular side panels that include flanking reliefs.
