Description

The Eight Niblett Monuments, located about 5 meters north of the end of the nave in the churchyard of the Church of St. Peter, consist of three chest tombs and five headstones arranged in two lines. The monuments are made of limestone.

In the first row, from north to south and west to east, there are the following: Samuel Niblett, who died in 1756; Hannah Niblett, who died in 1792; and a plain square headstone from the early 18th century with a recessed panel. Both chest tombs have flat tops, a moulded plinth, and capping. The tomb of Samuel features lyre ends with low relief returns, a cartouche to the north, and flanking reliefs, while the south side has a plain fielded rectangular panel with a flattened scroll relief. Hannah's tomb has gadrooned quarter balusters on the base, rope moulded ovals on the sides with sheaves of corn in the spandrels to the south, and recessed high relief ends with an urn to the west and a crown with cherubs to the east.

In the second row, there is a chest tomb for John Niblett, who died in 1721. This tomb also has a flat top, moulded plinth and capping, gadrooned quarter balusters, small end cartouches, and plain recessed squares on the sides with flanking low relief panels. Additionally, there are four headstones in a line to the south, likely from the early 18th century, all featuring carved surrounds and cherubs' heads.
