Description
Lower Gannicox is a building that dates from the 17th century or possibly earlier. It is constructed mainly of hammer-dressed rubble and features modern roofs and ashlar chimneys. The south front, which dates from the mid-18th century, is made of brick with ashlar quoins. The building has three storeys and seven ranges of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The end two bays are canted on the first and ground floors, with oculi above. The central three bays project and are topped with a pediment, which has an oculus in the tympanum. The doorway is made of stucco and features a pulvinated frieze, a dentilled pediment, and Tuscan pilasters; it has been moved from the centre to the left. The central ground floor windows are round-arched.
