Description
Lodgemoor Mills is a building constructed between 1871 and 1873, designed by architect James Ferrabee of Brimscombe. It was rebuilt after a fire in 1871, maintaining a similar ground plan to the previous mill that dates back to around 1815. The site has been home to a mill since at least the 15th century. The structure is made of red brick with blue brick pilasters and voussoirs, featuring panels of yellow brick above the second-floor windows. It stands three storeys high with a parapet and has twelve ranges of round arched windows with glazing bars. There is a wing to the north at the west end and an engine house at the east end, which is a single storey with four bays and two round arched windows with glazing bars on the north elevation, set in a recessed panel of yellow brick beneath a single relieving arch. Lodgemoor Mills is part of a group that includes the Lodgemoor Mills Office Block, Nos 1 and 2 Lodgemoor Cottages, and Lodgemoor Mills Bridge, along with Fromehall Mills.
