Description

A former schoolmaster's house, dating to circa 1850, now a house. The building is constructed of coursed rubble limestone with ashlar dressings, and red brick to the rear. It features brick chimneys with blue brick banding and a pantile roof. The main part of the house is two storeys high, with a single-storey rear wing. The front elevation has three windows on each floor. The windows are 4-pane sashes set within ashlar surrounds, which include quoins and relieving arches. The ground-floor arches are segmental, while the upper-floor arches are pointed. A central doorway has a 4-panel door. There are two small attic sashes in each gable end. The single-storey rear wing is a replacement for an earlier, taller wing. The building is included on the list for its group value; it terminates a view through the south part of the churchyard and provides a visual link between the Parish Centre and numbers 5 and 6 Broadwell.
