Description
No 22 Long Street is a house dating from around 1830, located at the rear of No 20 and facing a courtyard. The building is constructed from coursed rubble limestone, which is partially roughcast rendered, along with red brick and features brick chimneys and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and includes a return block over a passageway leading to No 24 Long Street, which is not of special interest.
The front of the house, which faces the courtyard, has a scattered arrangement of windows. There are two doorways with 6-panel doors and a 16-pane sash window on the ground floor, while the upper floor features two 16-pane sash windows, all of which have timber lintels. The return block includes an oval-headed archway with a keystone and imposts, above which are three linked 12-pane sash windows.
On the south side, which faces the churchyard, the building is partially roughcast rendered and has a mixed arrangement of four windows, mostly casements. This includes one casement with Gothick leading and another upper floor window set in a large segmental arch, as well as one 19th-century sash window. The roof has three gabled dormers and one raking dormer on the right. The interior has not been inspected. This house is part of a group of buildings surrounding the churchyard.
