Description
This is an 18th-century former workshop, now retaining its original use and alongside Nos. 15 and 17. The building is constructed of random rubble limestone, with a brick chimney and a pantile roof. It has three storeys and a single-storey section that extends towards the northwest, with an attic above. The northeast side displays an irregular pattern of windows. There are three fixed-light windows with timber lintels on the ground floor, one of which is blocked. A large casement window with a brick segmental arch is to the right. The middle floor has three casements with concrete lintels, and the upper floor two casements with timber lintels. A blocked doorway in the single-storey part has a 20th-century casement window filling the opening, set within a shaped surround dating to the mid-19th century. The northwest end shows evidence of a raised roof in the gable, and an attic casement with a timber lintel is visible in the gable end of the attached outbuilding. The southwest side has a similar pattern of casements as the northeast side. It is believed the workshops were likely associated with the local woollen industry.
