Description
15 and 17 Long Street are a shop with a flat above, dating to around 1840. The building was constructed for B.E. Bloxsome. It is built of red Flemish bond brick, with a roughcast side wall, brick chimneys, and a replacement tile roof. The building is three storeys high and is attached to No. 19 Long Street, which forms a rear wing. The front has a four-window arrangement of sash windows; the middle floor windows have 16 panes each, and the upper floor windows have 12 panes each, all with stone voussoir lintels. A modern shop front occupies the ground floor. The roof is double-hipped. The north-east side is roughly plastered and has tall 18-pane sashes positioned off-centre on the middle and upper floors. A boot scraper at the base of the wall indicates a former door position. An illustration of the original ground floor fenestration can be found in D.E. Evans's book, Dursley and Cam, published in 1981.
