Description
Nos 7 and 9 Long Street is a shop with an office above, dating from the 17th century. The front was rebuilt around 1900, and the shop front was updated in the 20th century. The building features roughcast render with stucco dressings and has random rubble limestone at the rear, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It is three storeys high, with a two-storey rear outbuilding.
The front has a two-window arrangement with 12-pane sash windows that have plain architraves, and there are alternating quoins on the southwest corner. The eaves cornice is decorated with modillions, and the roof is hipped. At the rear, there is a three-light mullioned window with a leaded casement on the upper floor, although the elevation above has been altered in brick. The front of the building was originally timber framed and jettied over the shopfront, but it has been extensively rebuilt, though some timber framing may still exist internally.
