Description
Nos 28 and 30 Long Street is a former town house, now used as shops, dating from around 1800. The building features coursed and squared marlstone with limestone ashlar dressings, a brick chimney, and a plain tile roof. It is two stories high with an attic and has a long rear wing.
The front of the building has a six-window arrangement with 12-pane sash windows on the upper floor. There is a central doorway with a pediment, moulded architraves, a pulvinated and reeded frieze, and paterae in the tympanum. To the right, there is another doorway with moulded architraves, a floating cornice, and a 20th-century glazed door. The ground floor has 20th-century shop fronts with marble window surrounds and sign fascias. Above, there is a moulded cornice with a plain parapet, four hipped dormers, and a single chimney mounted on the ridge. The rear wing has scattered fenestration and a hipped roof. The interior has not been inspected.
