Description
The outbuilding located to the southeast of Hardwicke Farmhouse is a Grade II listed structure, dating back to the 15th century, and possibly re-erected later. It is timber framed, weatherboarded, and has a plain tile roof. The building is square and consists of a single bay, with its roof linking to the southeast corner of Hardwicke Farmhouse. The exterior is weatherboarded, featuring a gable end on the northeast side and a hipped roof on the southwest side. The roof extends to two posts at the southwest end, which shelter an area of wattle and daub. Inside, there are two cruck frames; one at the northeast end is complete with a cambered collar, while the other at the southwest end has been cut to form a half hip. There are also two arched wind braces supporting the purlins. This outbuilding, along with Hardwicke Farmhouse and the outbuildings to the southwest, may have been part of the medieval manor house of Rudge. It contributes to the group of buildings surrounding the yard.
