Description
Brimscombe Cottage is a former stable that has been converted into a detached house, dating from the late 18th century with alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of ashlar limestone, featuring a rebuilt chimney made of concrete block and a roof covered with concrete tiles. It is two stories high with an attic.
The north front of the cottage has a three-window arrangement, with all windows being two-light chamfered mullioned windows that have leaded casements. The ground floor casements appear to have been altered in the 19th century. To the left of the central round arched doorway, which has keystones and imposts, there is a hoodmould. The doorway itself is a six-panel round arched door. An eaves-mounted chimney with a chamfered cap is located to the left.
At the rear, the cottage is built into a bank and features two upper floor two-light mullioned casements along with a small leaded casement on the ground floor. There is also an eaves-mounted chimney to the left, which has a chamfered cap. The east end of the building has a gable end with blocked doorways at the upper floor and attic levels. The interior has not been inspected.
