Description
Lower Barnes Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with extensions added in the later 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubblestone and features a Cotswold stone slate roof, with a brick end stack on the right and a small coursed stone and brick extension on the left. The building is a single long range, two storeys high, with a gable end attic on the later wing to the right.
There are four windows in total, consisting of two 2-light casements in each part, positioned at a slightly higher level on the right-hand wing, which is marked by a break in the roof line indicating the join of the two wings. All windows are set under timber lintels. On the ground floor, there are two similar windows to the left of a central tongue and groove front door, which has a gabled and boarded hood above it, and one 4-pane sash window to the extreme right.
