Description
This classical seat, located about 150 meters northwest of The Stables, is a garden pavilion dating from around 1750, possibly designed by Thomas Robins. It is constructed from limestone ashlar with a slate roof. The structure features an open bower supported by two banded Doric columns that hold up a pediment, with banded responds on the back wall made of ashlar and render on the front. The frieze, center of the pediment, and the column bands are vermiculated. The entire pavilion is set on a stone stylobate. It is part of a group of garden buildings in a significant surviving rococo ensemble, facing across a theatre-like valley towards Painswick House and The Stables.
