Description
Eagle House, located approximately 25 meters west of The Stables, is a garden element dating from around 1750, possibly designed by Thomas Robins. It is constructed from squared and coursed limestone, with some remnants of red paint or plaster, and features an earth-covered roof. The structure includes a deep alcove set into the hillside, characterized by a pointed arch beneath a frieze and battlements that extend about 1 meter at each end, forming a balustrade for a garden view. The alcove measures approximately 2.5 meters deep and wide, leading to a flat back wall. On either side of the outer wall, there are damaged remains of finely cut stone sides. The overall height of the structure is about 4.5 meters. Eagle House is part of a significant surviving rococo ensemble of garden buildings.
