Description
This is an unidentified memorial located approximately 7 meters southwest of the southwest corner of the Church of St Giles. It is a pedestal tomb from the 18th century, made of limestone. The tomb features a richly moulded top and base, set on a plinth and stylobate, and was formerly enclosed by a railing. The corners are reserved with fluted pilasters that flank a sunk panel, which has a beaded top moulding. This panel includes circular sections with raised centers on the east and west sides, as well as inscription panels with moulded and lugged surrounds above a scalloped base moulding on the north and south sides. The inscription is in italics, though the name is not decipherable, and it includes a date of 1672, which seems too early for the design of the memorial. The tomb is upright and in good condition, representing a fine example of memorial art.
