Description

The gate piers and walls at Number 5 Chipping Manor date from the 18th century. They consist of two pairs of square stone piers topped with moulded and weathered cappings, which include a small-scale fluted frieze similar to that found on the main entablature of the Manor. The enclosing wall runs for 200 feet and stands 5 feet high, featuring sections of fine bedded dry-stone work and stone weathered copings. There are no gates present. One pair of piers creates an opening to Chipping to the east, while the second pair is widely spaced and faces Symn Lane to the south.
