Description

The Mount is a detached house dating from approximately 1790. It is constructed of Flemish bond red brick with ashlar dressings, brick chimneys, and a Welsh slate roof. The main three-storey front range has a symmetrical three-window design (1:1:1). The windows are 16-pane sashes, replacements from the 20th century, set within openings with plain architraves, with moulding above the central doorway, which features a plain architrave, frieze, and moulded cornice. The door itself is a six-panel fielded door with a rectangular fanlight above. A pediment breaks forward, featuring a dentil-enriched cornice, and a plain band runs horizontally at the upper floor level. Alternating quoins and a moulded stone cornice are located below the brick parapet. A brick chimney with moulded stone caps is visible on the gable. Swept-coped gable ends are present. To the left of the main front is a two-storey wing with a hipped roof and two 12-pane sash windows with stone lintels. A segmental arched doorway to the right leads to a projecting porch hood and a six-panel door. The rear wing also has a hipped roof and a mix of 20th-century casement windows with segmental arches. The interior has not been inspected.
