Description
Yew Tree Farm House is a farmhouse located at the corner of Moreton Valence on the A38. It dates from the early 18th century and was enlarged in the late 18th to early 19th century. The main part of the house is constructed from random coursed stone faced in ashlar on two sides, while the later wing is made of brick. The roof is hipped and sprocketed, covered with tiles that feature a pattern, and has moulded wooden eaves along with rebuilt brick stacks. The later wing has a plain tile roof.
The building has an L-shape and stands two storeys high, with the later wing fitting into the rear angle and projecting to the northwest. The front facing the A38 has five windows, which are replaced two-light wood mullions and transoms with glazing bars, and a stone keystone that connects to a plat band above the ground floor windows. The central door consists of six panels, with the top four being glazed, and features a large flush stone lintel.
The right-hand return elevation has three similar windows that are more widely spaced, along with a two-light stone mullion window at the basement level on the far left. The rear of the wing possibly retains original wood mullion and transom windows on each floor, with timber lintels. The brick wing has a scattered arrangement of fenestration, mostly consisting of cambered head casements.
