Description
Union Chapel, dated 1835 on the front pediment, is constructed of ashlar stone on a plinth and features a slate roof with a large pediment. The building is nearly square and has two storeys. It includes two long, 4-centred arched windows, each with two lights. There is a plain band at the base of the pediment and a decorative circular iron grille set into a circular opening in the pediment. A central gabled stone porch, also with a slate roof, has side piers featuring recessed trefoil panels and a moulded cornice, along with a 4-centred archway. The double doors consist of six fielded panels and are topped by a large arched fanlight with Gothic interlocking tracery. Plain round railings run across the front, meeting as gates within the porch. The words "UNION CHAPEL 1835" are inscribed in raised stone in the centre below the grille. The interior has not been inspected, and the chapel is included primarily for its group value.
