Description

Court Cottage is an 18th and 19th century cottage located at the end of a row, originally listed under St Mary’s Street. The front facade, facing St Mary’s Street, is two storeys and an attic, with one window. This section is built of good coursed limestone and has a stone slate roof. It features a three-light casement window with a stopped hood moulding on both the ground and first floors, and a three-light, flush dormer window with a ball finial. The windows have flush chamfer mullions and small-pane casements. The section facing Hale Lane is also two storeys and an attic with a ground floor containing a three-light casement and a fielded panel door, partially glazed, set within a flat-roofed porch. The first floor has two three-light casement windows under a continuous stopped hood, and a three-light leaded dormer. A small single-light window is located at ground floor to the far left. Small-pane casements are present throughout. The roof is hipped at one corner and has an ashlar gable stack with capping at the back. A one-storey extension to the rear includes a large plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
