Description
Millowner's House, also known as Fromebridge Mill, is a millowner's house that likely has a core dating from the 17th century, with expansions made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The front is faced with brick and roughcast, topped with a pantile roof. It features rendered end stacks, some brick stacks, and a tall ashlar stack at the rear with a moulded cap. The building consists of a single main range of two storeys and an attic, with a rear wing on the left and smaller extensions on the right. The left side may have originally been a separate cottage.
The house has two windows with 3-light hipped dormers on the eaves, which have wooden casements. There is a central wooden louvred bell turret with a clock face on the front. On the first floor, there is a 3-light window on the right and a 4-light window on the left, both with square stone hoodmoulds and a central mullion. The ground floor features large canted bays, with a 16-pane sash window on the left and a 12-pane sash window on the right. The central entrance has a chamfered and stopped stone doorcase with a plank door, and a 20th-century glazed porch. Inside, the ground floor contains crossing chamfered and stopped beams.
