Description
Clingre House is a dwelling built in the early 18th century and remodelled in 1840. It features rendered brickwork and a concrete tile roof. The main block has a moulded cornice and a central section that is brought forward with a pediment. The gables are coped and have stacks, while the lower wing on the right has a large external eaves stack and a back wing with blocked pitching eyes. There is a projecting gabled stair turret and a large off-centre window. The house is two storeys high with an attic, a first-floor string course, and a three-windowed facade. The windows include 19th-century three-light wood mullion and transom windows, with a canted 19th-century bay window on the ground floor to the left. The central pediment features an oculus with four projecting keystones, and there is a modern door set in a pilaster doorcase with a pediment.
Inside, the house has a chinoiserie Chippendale staircase with a broad swept mahogany rail, and the kitchen wing includes a bread oven.
