Description
Knapp House and Knapp House Cottage are two houses dating from about 1830, with later additions from the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of coursed and squared limestone with ashlar dressings, rebuilt concrete chimneys, and a Welsh slate roof. Knapp House is a three-storey building, while a rear outshut and west-end addition now form Knapp House Cottage, which is two storeys high. The front of Knapp House has a three-window arrangement, with 16-pane sashes on the ground and middle floors and an 8-pane sash above, all with deep stone lintels. A central doorway is approached by a side flight of stone steps, leading to a six-panel door with a rectangular window above. A plank door provides access to a small cellar to the right. Knapp House Cottage has 20th-century single-window casements with stone lintels, and a 20th-century door with approach steps to the left. An off-centre doorway with glazed doors is located on the east end. Gable end chimneys are present. The rear features a continuous two-storey outshut with a mix of window types, all with deep stone lintels. Inside Knapp House, the ground floor sashes have panelled shutters. Most original doors and architraves have been retained.
