Description

Walnut Tree House is a detached house dating to around 1830. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with coursed rubble limestone, ashlar and artificial stone rebuilt chimneys, and a Welsh slate roof. The house is two storeys high, with a two-storey rear wing. The front façade has a symmetrical fenestration pattern of 1:1:1, with all windows being 16-pane sashes, the central window being slightly narrower. A central doorway features a six-panel fielded door and fanlight, set forward with banded rustication to the ground floor and a plain band above. Pilaster strips flank the ends of the facade, and an eaves band runs around the building. The roof is hipped, and pilaster strips with eaves-mounted moulded chimneys are located to the sides of the main block. The rear wing has an eight-pane sash window with a 20-pane window to its right on each floor, facing south. Inside, the house has a simple staircase with stick balusters. The rear wing was originally part of a farmhouse, likely dating from the mid-to-late 18th century, although it was significantly altered when incorporated into the present house.
