Description

The Hopkins memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 10 meters south of the east end of the chancel at the Church of St. Giles. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a thin moulded top and a cavetto base set on a plinth and stylobate, which was formerly enclosed by railings. The ends of the tomb have a frieze and base with fluted pilaster returns, relief carved urns, and elliptical panels with palm or rosette corners. The memorial commemorates an individual named Hopkins, with the date 1782 inscribed on it.
