Description

This pair of garden gates, located approximately 30 meters west of The Stables, dates from around 1750 and is possibly designed by Thomas Robins. The gates are made of painted wood with wood posts and feature a chinoiserie style on the plain square posts. The gates themselves have typical diagonal bars arranged in paired panels. These gates are part of a significant collection of garden elements within an important surviving rococo ensemble. It is unclear if they are in their original location, but they provide access from Painswick House to the rococo garden.
