Description
Rockstowes Mill is a dwelling with jenny lofts, dating from the early 19th century or late 18th century. It is constructed of squared limestone and features a very steeply pitched roof covered with concrete tiles, along with brick gable stacks. The building stands three storeys high with an attic and has a three-windowed facade. The windows are 2-light casements with segmental heads. On the ground floor, there are two modern doors and a modern glazed porch under the central bay on the east facade. The west facade also has three storeys and a similar three-window arrangement, but includes an extension at the ground floor. In the right gable, there is a casement window in the attic along with a loading door.
This building was part of the Rockstowes Mill complex, which was established around 1800 and has since been demolished. Originally, it comprised two cottages with jenny lofts above. It is included in the heritage register primarily for its historic interest.
